Watershed will host Communication-Wear, a cutting-edge research project which integrates mobile phone technology and smart textiles into items of clothing. Watershed is looking for volunteers to try out these garments and the new forms of communication they enable:

What:
Volunteers will be asked to try out the clothing and feed back general perceptions of the concept.

Who:
We are looking to recruit eight to twelve pairs of volunteers who would be interested in trying out these garments. The two garment prototypes come in average sizes: one male (size 40 inches/100cm chest) and one female (size 37 inches/94 cm chest). Because of this, it would be easiest to create pairs of both sexes. Volunteers must be over age 18. Due to the nature of this experiment we would prefer volunteers with a background other than Engineering and Computer Science.

How:
In pairs volunteers will spend a short amount of time 'hanging out' in the Watershed, exchanging messages. They will then be asked some questions about the experience. The study will last about an hour in total. Refreshments will be provided.

When:
5 and 6 December
Day and evening slots

If you would like to take part, please email: vanessa.bellaar-spruijt@hp.com stating 'volunteer' in the subject heading and your preferred date.

Communication-Wear is an AHRC-funded research project by Sharon Baurley of Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, in association with HP Labs and Vodafone.
